We cannot stress enough the importance of regular Termite Inspections. In South East Queensland and Northern New South Wales our climate drives more termite activity than many other Australian locations. Ideally inspections should be scheduled for spring and autumn but at the very least annually to ensure you are remaining vigilant.
Did you know that each year in Australia, termites cause more damage to homes than fires, floods and storms combined? One in five homes is affected by termite damage, often resulting in extensive damage and then expensive repairs. Often insurance does not cover termite damage.
Protect your investment with regular checks.
At Quest 4 Pest, we specialise in comprehensive termite control for the Gold Coast and surrounding regions.
This tends to be the first approach. Stations are placed in specific areas around your home and once termite activity is discovered baits are placed inside the existing stations.
The termite bait used is non-chemical and contains an active ingredient, so effective that only a small amount is needed. Termites ingest the bait and carry it to back the colony where they share it with other termites. If enough active ingredient is ingested it is possible to eliminate the colony.
It can take 3-6 months to eliminate a colony.
The first step in protecting a property or home is to prevent termites from gaining access. This is achieved by placing a barrier under or around the property. Barriers are designed to deter termites or bring their presence out into the open.
There are two types of chemical barriers in-soil and in-plastics.
Chemical in soil barriers rely on treated zones being applied under and around the concrete slab or foundations. These chemicals are either repellent or non repellent. Repellent termiticides repel termites from entry and non repellent termiticides kill and prevent entry via these treated zones. Chemical in plastics are installed the same as physical barriers.
Physical barriers rely on the physical resistance of the material to resist termite attack. These are usually installed during new constructions, but some can be retro-fitted to existing houses. Physical barriers are made from crushed rock, metal, or other materials that termites cannot chew through.
Regular termite inspections by a licensed professional is still required to maintain the warranty.
A termite reticulation system protects your home from termites by creating an underground barrier. Quest4Pest installs these systems, which involve laying pipes around your home’s foundation and injecting them with termiticide to eliminate termites in the surrounding soil. This provides long-lasting protection and can be easily refilled for ongoing defence.
This system is a cost-effective way to prevent costly termite damage, offering peace of mind and easy maintenance. While the system is designed for longevity, regular inspections are recommended to ensure its effectiveness.
